Niki Nirvikalpa is a filmmaking professional and a documentary filmmaker who has successfully written, shot, directed and edited over six long-form documentaries. The topics of his films largely cover the ecological and human capital devastation that the mainstream narrative of development engenders. He has been making socially relevant and entertaining films for supporting movements, communities and companies.

At IIHS, Niki has been part of the Media Lab, supporting the Tamil Nadu Urban Sanitation Support Programme (TNUSSP), in making several short films, for campaigns, and social media. He has been part of flagship campaigns of TNUSSP like the Women in Sanitation, a campaign that has tried to highlight the fundamental role that women play in the sanitation space, from caretakers to policymakers; and We Speak Too, a series of offline events that has made sanitation workers centrestage in talking about their issues and solutions that they would benefit from.

In his spare time, Niki is constantly on the lookout for stories from the unheard, and is actively trying to bring those stories alive.
