Learning Services

The DBL Programme works with other groups inside IIHS, institutional sponsors and other organisations to design and implement bespoke programmes that are aligned with their specific learning and mission objectives. DBL provides consultation services to identify areas of potential collaboration and develops programmes that leverage IIHS’ in-house capabilities, its ties with government bodies, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders in the urban landscape.

IIHS Learning Management System

Learning platforms where online learning content is hosted have a significant influence on the quality of the content delivered. In order to help the faculty of the Urban Fellows Programme (UFP) and the Urban Practitioners’ Programme (UPP) transition smoothly into online learning delivery, and help design online content for other capacity building projects like the SDI and the TNUSSP, DBL oversaw the deployment of an IIHS-wide Learning Management System (LMS). This LMS is a customised multi-tenant version of Moodle where multiple programmes can co-exist at the same time, which is convenient for the diverse target audience profiles IIHS works with.

Capacity Building Workshops on Online Teaching 

The DBL team has delivered a series of sessions designed to introduce different IIHS teams to the various options of online teaching available and helped them visualise how their current learning offerings can be transitioned to online and blended delivery. The sessions covered the basics of Instructional Design, online teaching tools and course design templates. The sessions also focussed on planning and teaching online, giving faculty exposure to the various possibilities of the online format by making them comfortable with the concept of the flipped classroom, usage of online meeting toolkits, important aspects of video production, learning management systems and various virtual collaboration tools.
