Gopinath is part of the academic and research team at IIHS. He primarily works on database management. He has worked on developing various software tools and applications as projects during his engineering studies and has also developed a speech recognition robot as an academic project.

Gopinath was an active member of Computer Society of India, where he presented technical papers on android applications.
