Deepthi J is an environmental professional working as a project coordinator at IIHS. She contributes to the solid waste management project on circular waste solutions for GIZ India, providing technical assistance for the efficient operation of micro-composting centres and supporting the integration of the informal sector through entrepreneurship initiatives.

 

Deepthi holds a master’s degree in environmental science and a postgraduate diploma in industrial safety and occupational health from Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli, as well as a bachelor’s degree in home science from Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirappalli. She also has a certification in computer automation from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

 

She has previously worked as a consultant at the Environmental Awareness Centre, Water Resource Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, and as a field supervisor at Saahas. She has also volunteered at Trees Research Educational Environmental Services Trust in Tiruchirappalli.

 

Deepthi has contributed to projects such as the restoration of the Kattalai high-level canal where she promoted sustainability and environmental awareness among students. She was also involved in creating awareness about solid waste management and recycling initiatives in Tiruchirappalli through the Circular Waste Solutions project by Saahas.

 

Deepthi is passionate about upcycling waste materials and fabric stitching.
