Deeptha J is an urban development professional with domain knowledge in land and spatial planning, urban administration and governance. In her earlier projects with GIZ, she has gained experience working in coordination with the Directorate of Town and Country Planning and Housing and Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu to enable sustainable spatial planning measures, support inter-departmental coordination and build capacity of key agencies involved in spatial planning in the state.

 

During the early years of her career, Deeptha has also explored her interests in rural tourism, where she undertook an independent short-term project under the name ‘MyNA’ (My Native Associates) to understand the impact of vocational training in empowering young women in the villages of Tamil Nadu.

 

She is currently working in the area of capacity development, and is keen on exploring the area of public health and education through the lens of urban and spatial planning.

 

Deeptha is an experienced Bharatanatyam dancer, sketches extensively and often engages in art and design. She also actively raises awareness about Type 1 diabetes.
