Basavaraj Hulagannavar has over 10 years of experience in the development sector domain, spanning professional skills, management, and technical training. He possesses cross-sectoral expertise in human resource management, project management, training, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, skills development, and capacity building. Prior to joining IIHS, Basavaraj served at BUZZ India Trust, where he effectively managed teams, project initiatives, and led teams across three districts in Karnataka. His primary focus included project and team management, identifying training needs, formulating training plans, overseeing programme implementation, and ensuring end-to-end deployment.
Basavaraj has also been affiliated with prominent organisations such as Children of India Foundation (TdH-Netherlands), Nightingales Medical Trust, CHILDLINE India Foundation (SRRC-Chennai), PADI-Valored, and Shivashakti Group of Companies, where he held roles in HR, child protection, and community development. His impactful work encompasses facilitating the transition and delivery of services to improve the lives of many children in the community.
With a master’s degree in social work specialising in personnel management and industrial relations from the University of Mangalore, Basavaraj leverages his skills to support professional development and behavioural skills management. He employs a variety of methods, including classroom-led programmes, webinars, and coaching interventions.
Basavaraj’s community development initiatives have taken him across the country, covering key cities in all states. He has successfully implemented and managed programmes for children aged 0 to 18 years while conducting capacity-building training for government officials, NGO staff, and individuals regarding child-related acts. His primary passion lies in creating a safe environment for every child in society, ensuring they experience a valuable childhood.
At IIHS, Basavaraj holds a pivotal role, overseeing programme management for the Urban Practitioners’ Programme, outreach, and institutional development.
