Akanksha Sharma is part of the Word Lab at IIHS. She anchors the administration process for IIHS’ interdisciplinary journal Urbanisation published by SAGE Publications. She assists with copyediting in-house publications, reports and articles, including academic articles for the journal and other grey literature. She also works with the team on public engagements, including Public Texts and City Scripts. Akanksha provides support for research on Word Lab projects and other IIHS activities, including academics, research, training, practice, and operations.
Akanksha completed her post-graduation in English literature in 2019. Her thesis focussed on understanding the idea of power in the context of premodern Indo-Persian socio-political and cultural structures, and the ways in which power manifested in the works of literature, in particular, the works of poet Amir Khusro. Her interest in hybridity of languages, and specifically in languages that transgressed their geo-political boundaries to interact with various culturally charged spaces, led her to explore the Indo-Persian literary culture in its early era. Her current academic interests include children’s fiction and fantasy literature.
