17 June - 13 December 2019 | Profile shared during internship at IIHSGirija is an intern with the IIHS Geospatial lab. She supports The Urban Policy Codes (UDP) 2019 and other research and practice projects.
As part of her Bachelor of Engineering in Geoinformatics course, Girija worked on a project on Drought assessment in southern Tamil Nadu using Remote Sensing and GIS techniques; and Modelling tropical cyclone risk under climate change scenarios using Geospatial techniques. She interned at the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Thoothukudi District Administration Office, Tamil Nadu, where she helped produce a disaster mitigation map for the district.
Girija has a keen interest in research and innovative methodology based on GIS and Remote sensing Techniques especially for Disaster Management, Mitigation Preparedness and Climate Change analysis. Apart from this, she is a book lover, and enjoys free hand drawing and writing stories.
