Arjita works as Associate at IIHS’ Sustainable Energy Lab. She is from Mumbai and completed her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Mumbai university in Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Architecture, Navi Mumbai, in 2020. She has been working in the architecture industry for more than a year, spending one year with Bentel Associates and six months at MBH Architects.
During her tenure, Arjita realised the architecture industry’s impact on climate change, resource depletion and raw material wastage. This realization, combined with her college curriculum, sparked her interest in sustainability. To pursue and practice genuine sustainability, she decided to study further and joined the master’s programme in Building Energy Performance (MBEP) at CEPT university, Ahmedabad. She participated in an international student modelling competition organised by the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA). Her team was shortlisted and invited to Shanghai, China, where they won the BS2023 Student Modelling Competition.
The MBEP course provided Arjita with a deeper understanding of sustainability, and she aims to contribute to the industry from a sustainable practice perspective. She is now applying the knowledge gained from her postgraduate degree as a technical associate at IIHS.
In her personal time, Arjita enjoys exploring the city and nearby places, reading novels, and trying to cook good food for herself. She also plays badminton occasionally and engages in crafts and DIY projects.
