J Venketlakshmi holds a master’s degree in microbiology, gaining second rank at Bharathidasan University. Her passion for writing made her publish a paper at the International Conference at Bharathiar University in 2006. Her interests in researching life sciences paved the way to find novel antimycobacterial components from marine cyanobacteria: Nostoc sp. and Oscillatoria sp. at microlevels. She has also contributed a literature review of ‘Molecular Adaptations of Thermophiles’.
She won the TWAS Fellowship in 2007 for doing a four-year PhD programme in South America.
