Pranietha Mudliar

Practice

Pranietha is a PhD Candidate at the School of Environment and Natural Resources at the Ohio State University. Her research interests lie in collaborative water management, citizen participation, institutional analysis, environmental policy and governance, and collective action. Her other academic interests include examining interdisciplinarity in research and teaching, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

For her doctoral dissertation she is examining what kinds of institutions can moderate the influence of heterogeneity, or create inclusivity for successful collective action across water management communities in the United States and India. She is also examining the role of government agencies, non-profits, and academic organizations in moderating heterogeneity and creating inclusivity.

She is currently interning at IIHS with the Collaborative Adaptation Research Initiative in Africa and Asia (CARIAA) team. Within CARIAA she is leading the framing of socio-ecological systems in the urban, rural, and peri-urban field sites in India. She is working on assessing how water vulnerability has been traditionally addressed in urban regions in India. She is also a part of the crosscutting working group on adaptive governance.
