Research Network

IIHS Faculty have excelled in global and domestic collaborative research, building a knowledge ecosystem of networks and partnerships critical for building a global reputation and for undertaking interdisciplinary research. Researchers and Faculty at IIHS have established long-term collaborations for research through partnerships with leading global universities, including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Harvard University, Yale University, University of California (Berkeley), Columbia University, MIT, University College London (UCL), University of Cape Town (UCT), as well as global multilateral institutions such as the World Bank and several UN agencies. The IIHS Research Programme also has partnerships with several leading Indian academic institutions including the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), CEPT University, and public research institutes like the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), and the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).

In addition to collaborative research through university partnerships, IIHS Faculty are also directly involved in global knowledge, policy and research platforms such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). IIHS Director Aromar Revi is a Coordinating Lead Author of the 2018 IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C that will define potential implementation pathways for the Paris Climate Agreement. He was, earlier, a Coordinating Lead Author of the IPCC Assessment Report 5 on Urban Areas, which established the role of cities and regions in addressing climate risks. He is also the co-chair of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and of its Urban Thematic group where he led a successful global campaign for an urban Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for the UN.
