Shomita’s professional profiles include sustainability leadership and social entrepreneurship design, implementation and education. She is committed to fostering Agency and Equity in individuals, organisations and communities.
Shomita has over eight years of experience designing and delivering programmes across sustainable agroforestry, coastal fishing related businesses, philanthropy, higher education and social impact consulting, combining the principles of entrepreneurship and leadership. She has developed incubation programmes with communities at Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu and in organisations such as IDBI, Wipro, SNEHA, LAW Trust and TISS. She planned the set-up of productive applications, and the handover and exit strategy for a decentralised renewable energy access project at Chhattisgarh with the GIZ. She has trained and coached students and practitioners across WWF, TISS, MSSW, ISDM, Breakthrough and several other prominent organisations, in methods of social entrepreneurship and transformational leadership. She has coached sustainability professionals from across Norway, Sweden and other parts of Europe using transformational leadership tools.
Shomita is interested in enabling values-based Responsible Business Practices across business entities of different scales. She is also interested in researching and applying creative learning methods to entrepreneurship and livelihoods planning and education, makerspaces and fablabs.
At IIHS, Shomita supports the Urban Practitioners’ Programme.
