Gajanan Hegde has a master’s degree from Karnatak University, Dharwad, and completed an environmental management course from IISc, Bengaluru. His current research interests are in sustainable green chemistry and environmental chemistry. As a Consultant for the Environmental Lab, Gajanan works on the assessment of water and soil quality at IIHS Campus, Kengeri under the LTUEO. He supports the research work of IIHS at Sulikere Forest under the LTUEO project. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Environmental Lab and analysis of water, soil, and compost samples.

Gajanan previously worked in the Sujala III Micro watershed project of the Karnataka Watershed Department for the assessment of soil quality and soil mapping. He had been engaged in technical support work in Environmental Management & Policy Research Institute (EMPRI) for projects such as intervention in water bodies and water safety plans for Bengaluru in association with Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority (KLCDA). His research publications are mainly focused on green and sustainable methods for the synthesis of nanoparticles, synthesis of chemical compounds to reduce environmental pollution, sustainable growth, and study on environmental pollution and climate change.
