Srinithi Sudhakar has a Master’s in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London. Her research interests include studying the impact and implementation of infrastructure development, sanitation and social protection government schemes. Her dissertation study analysed the effectiveness of social protection schemes and their impact on poverty reduction by comparing the potential benefits and shortfalls of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme (MGNREGA) with the Bolsa Familia cash transfer programme in Brazil. The thesis attempted to bring to attention the role played by factors such as social inclusion, political stability and targeting in reducing poverty and achieving long-term sustainability of any project.
At IIHS, she works with the Tamil Nadu Sanitation and Support Program (TNUSSP) which supports the Government of Tamil Nadu in making improvements along the entire urban sanitation value chain.
