Nasser Munjee serves as a member on the IIHS board.
Nasser was educated at the Leys School in Cambridge, UK. He then went on to do his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the London School of Economics, UK. He spent a short time at the University of Chicago, USA, before returning to India in 1977.
Nasser’s journey in the financial sector began with HDFC where he served for over 20 years in various capacities – starting as the first employee and rising to the ranks of executive director. While at HDFC, he consulted with the Asian Development Bank, The World Bank and the UNCDF (United Nations Capital Development Fund) and UN (Habitat) in the field of housing finance in Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Thailand and Indonesia. Nasser chaired the team which set up the Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), where he subsequently served as MD and CEO till 2004.
Currently, he is on the board of fifteen major public companies and involved with several other institutions as chairman, member of the board, or as a trustee, including Tata Motors, Britannia Industries, Cummins India, ABB India, Ambuja Cements (now part of the HOLCIM group). He has also served on numerous government task forces on housing and urban development.
Nasser is also closely involved with several other educational institutions such as Welham Boys School, Narsee Monjee Institute for Management Studies and the Goa Institute of Management.
