Abstract

Under the CWIS programme, this report provides operational guidelines to enhance co-treatment of fecal sludge at the Panjapur Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Tiruchirappalli. Field assessment at the Anna Stadium decanting station revealed improper maintenance, irregular inspections and safety risks. The study proposes a manifest system for tracking sludge movement to ensure accountability, standardised O&M procedures for efficient functioning, and safety protocols for worker protection. These practices can be replicated in other co-treating STPs across Tamil Nadu.
