This training manual presents a comprehensive training to integrate Gender, Equity, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into urban sanitation planning, financing and service delivery, with a focus on structurally excluded groups in Indian cities. Designed for government officials and urban practitioners, it combines conceptual grounding on GEDSI and intersectionality with practical tools, case studies and participatory exercises across the sanitation service chain. The manual offers a two-day training programme that links international and national commitments with city-level action, covering inclusive sanitation planning and management, gender-responsive budgeting and gender-based violence risks. By the end of the training, participants are equipped to diagnose exclusion, apply GEDSI-responsive tools and develop actionable, context-specific strategies for safe, dignified and inclusive urban sanitation systems.
