Abstract

Macaranga indica plant species are widely available in the evergreen forest of the western ghats. These plants are well known for their biomedical applications like antibacterial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, ic, hepatoprotective, and antidysentery properties. In this present study, assisted biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles was carried out using a bark extract of M. indica collected from the western ghat region of Karnataka. The characterization osynthesized capped AgNPs was established by employing techniques like UV spectra, XRD, FESEM, EDX, and FTIR absorption spectral analysis. XRD and FESEM/TEM analyses confirm that the biofunctionalized AgNps have an FCC structure and a size range of 12capped silver nanoparticles are used to treat wastewater at optimum temperatures. The dye contamination, like methylene blue, is effectively reduced by synthesized AgNPs, and microbial contamination like total coliform and E. coli is ully treated by M. indica bio-capped silver nanoparticles. These AgNPs can also be employed for biomedical applications like antimicrobial and antifungal treatments.
