Rohit Nema holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering in electronics and communication, followed by a Bachelor of Education, and a Master’s in Public Policy and Governance from Azim Premji University. With a background in engineering and education, Rohit has always been passionate about leveraging his technical skills towards positive social outcomes.

After completing his engineering degree, Rohit joined Infosys as a senior systems engineer, where he honed his technical expertise for 2.5 years. However, his desire to make a meaningful impact on the community led him to transition to the social sector. He joined Teach for India, where he spent three years working to improve educational outcomes for underprivileged children. This experience further fueled his passion for social change, leading him to join iTeach Schools, where he continued to work towards educational equity for another year.

Rohit’s commitment to driving systemic change in the social sector led him to pursue a Master’s in Public Policy and Governance. This allowed him to deepen his understanding of policy frameworks and governance structures, equipping him with the knowledge and skills to create sustainable impact at a larger scale. Rohit has also served as a judge for the MIT Solve Global Challenge, where he evaluated and supported education programmes for children in the age group 2–12. This experience allowed him to contribute his expertise and insights to initiatives aimed at improving educational opportunities for young children on a global scale.

At IIHS, Rohit applies his learning from diverse background in engineering, education and public policy to contribute towards building inclusive and sustainable cities. Along with multiple arenas concerning public problems, he deals with the questions of income, employment, health, etc.
