Hema NK is a development professional with over two decades of experience in project management, behaviour change communication, training and documentation, and stakeholder engagement across government programmes and non-profit organisations. Her core areas of expertise include water, sanitation, health, and community development.
Prior to joining IIHS, she served as the Information, Education & Communication (IEC) Expert with the State Programme Management Unit of the Atal Bhujal Yojana, a World Bank and Government of India programme (implemented by Government of Karnataka). In this capacity, she developed communication and training strategies, supported government and field teams, and coordinated with state and national agencies.
Hema has also worked with the Centre for Environment Education, where her major contribution was towards strengthening the Swachh Vidyalaya initiative supported by UNICEF in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. For over a decade, she led projects, training, partnerships, and fundraising at Communication for Development and Learning. She has experience in developing training manuals and developing IEC materials.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a postgraduate diploma in Computer Applications. Outside of work, Hema enjoys long walks, music and reading.
At IIHS, Hema is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the project management system tailored to the multi-dimensional work of IIHS.
