Gopal Kumar Jain has done his graduation in agricultural sciences from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and holds a PG Diploma in Business Administration from Nirma Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Gopal has over 29 years of experience in the development sector and is currently the Lead, Resource Development, at IIHS.
He started his career in April 1995, working on children and youth programmes with Centre for Environment Education (CEE) Ahmedabad, and then the Centre of Excellence in Environment Education, supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. In 2010, he joined Oxfam India as Programme Manager, Youth. Within six months, due to exemplary fundraising skills, he was offered to lead fundraising events, including Oxfam Trailwalker, the flagship fundraising event of Oxfam. He initiated Oxfam Trailwalker in Bengaluru and Mumbai, working out of Bengaluru for six years. In May 2016, he joined as Head of Fundraising at Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action, and worked here for three years. Later in 2019, he joined as Vice-President of United Sisters Foundation (USF), founded by Milind Soman. During COVID-19 period, i.e., April 2020–January 2022, he provided consultancies to several national and international organisations like fundsforngos.org, GLG and a few start-ups. In February 2022, he joined as CEO at Green Scarf Management Consultants Pvt Ltd, a for-profit social venture, helping contributors (corporate) and implementers (NGOs) get engaged in CSR activities and manage compliances.
Gopal’s core expertise lies in resource mobilisation, networking, and branding and communications. In addition to 100+ corporate and HNIs in India, he has built partnerships with several international organisations like UNEP, UNICEF, USAID, and several national organisations and the Government of India. He has experienced raising resources through CSR, donations, events marketing and sponsorships, cause-related marketing, grants, retail offline and digital fundraising, employee engagement and volunteering.
