Background

This paper presents the learnings from the exercise to identify a suitable location for the establishment of decanting station for co-treatment in Trichy. Sewage pumping stations were considered to be converted/ utilised as decanting facilities for trucks carrying fecal sludge. This is because pumping stations are already part of the network and dilution of fecal sludge can be achieved before it reaches the STP. Around six different pumping stations were considered for utilisation as decanting facilities. These pumping stations were analysed for various factors -spatial, infrastructural and operational.
