Abstract

The Ease of Registration of Property is an indicator that is used in the computation of a country’s Doing Business score and ranking, as devised by the World Bank. For India, Delhi is one of the two sites from which data for World Bank’s Doing Business reports is collected. This policy brief examines the practice of registering a sale transaction at a sub-registrar’s office in Delhi, brings out issues with the current practices and makes recommendations to improve these processes with an eye on the indicators used in the Doing Business reports.
