Impact of Self-Development on Developing Teachers

Monica Gupta  | March 2023

This report shares the findings of a project seeking to document the diversity of formats, locales and processes involved in the implementation of the Self-Development curriculum across the eight colleges of Delhi University offering the BElEd programme. It also critically examines the influence of engaging with the Self Development Workshops (SDW) and the course on Human Relations and Communication (HRC) on the “agency” in the personal, professional and social lives of BElEd alumni and pre-service students from these eight colleges. The report further seeks to explore if reflective thinking and conscious development in SDW and HRC enable students in resisting regressive practices and in initiating democratic, equitable
and collaborative practices in schools and personal life spaces.
