Navamani Ramasamy has a Masters in Town & Country Planning from the School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University, Chennai, and a Post Graduate Diploma in RS and GIS with a specialisation in Human Settlement Analysis from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun, ISRO. He has professional membership as an Associate Institute Town Planner (AITP) in the Institute of Town Planners India since 2010.
He is an urban planner and GIS specialist with seven years of professional experience in urban planning, traffic & transportation planning and RS & GIS, urban sanitation improvement planning. At IIHS, he works as a Specialist in Engineering and Planning in the Tamil Nadu Urban Sanitation Support Programme (TNUSSP) project. He handles GIS application in urban sanitation, which includes spatial and non-spatial data creation, spatial data analysis and mapping for effective visualisation. His contribution in spatial data creation and analysis starts with household level, city level and up to state level in the project.
He earlier worked as a Technical Consultant at the Traffic Planning Department in the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation where he optimised existing routes using GIS technology, long-term objectives of travel time and fare stage update for the entire operational routes with the help of GPS survey. He has also worked as Senior Executive in the GIS Department in Engineering Procurement Commission, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd in thermal power projects. He handled the major responsibility of digital image processing and geo-spatial database creation using various satellite imaginary (Low Resolution to High Resolution) references with SOI sheets and also done QA /QC for geo-data. His work includes numerous Geospatial analysis and 2D profile generation & 3D modeling for effective visualisation to support decision-making.
