Ananya worked as a journalist for six years with various media houses. She started her professional journey in 2014 as a reporter and sub-editor with Deccan Herald, where she spent hours combing through news pages for errors. After two years of going home with inky fingers, she moved to work for an online division of The Hindu BusinessLine.

In sultry Chennai, she learnt to decode business jargon and turned into a smart investor. Her journalistic nose for interesting stories, led her to travel less explored routes across the country. Later she joined The Federal, where she managed the flagship product – ‘The Eighth Column’.

She worked as a freelance journalist, a production assistant for a Netflix documentary series, edited for a publishing house, volunteered at a remote homestay in Uttara Kannada, dabbled in online poker and pottery, and became a certified scuba diver. Ananya believes in growing horizontally rather than vertically.

While Ananya can write about anything, she is passionate about issues related to gender and sexuality, queer rights, and wildlife conservation. A founding member of Queer Campus Bangalore, Ananya wants to educate people about queer politics.

At IIHS, Ananya works on developing content, social media planning and outreach, creating reports, maintaining information channels with various departments, media monitoring, newsletter creation, and other activities.
