Akshaya holds a master’s in Development Studies. Her master’s thesis/project was focussed on Dalit women manual scavengers in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which led to her interest in TNUSSP/CWIS projects. She joined the IIHS-led TNUSSP in July 2022 and is primarily a part of Project Communications.
Prior to this, she worked as a Qualitative Researcher at IIHS as a part of the ILO/IIHS project, from December 2021 – May 2022. She is also involved as a researcher with the HCL project. Her areas of interests include sanitation, human rights, gender, women empowerment and urban poverty. She loves to write and has presented papers at national seminars during her bachelor’s and master’s.
