Research Productivity Analysis of NIRF Ranking Universities: A Study

Abstract

The study explores the concept of research productivity of top ten NIRF ranking universities in india in the year 2019. The investigator has studied the number of theses submitted by the top ten universities to Shodhganga, MOU status with NIRF ranking universities, year-wise growth, and subject- wise distribution of theses. The study is based on data collected from the website of Shodhganga. The study reveals that out of ten universities Calcutta University stands first in terms of contributing more number of theses with 11916 as on 20th Sept 2019. Jawaharalal Nehru University, University Hyderabad, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Savithribai Phule Pune University signed MOU at a very early period of 2011. The highest number of theses were 18553 (55.57%) identified in the year 2017, and the least number of theses was 1249(3.74%) identified in the year 2015. Science and technology subjects have submitted the number of theses to Shodhganga with 5847, the highest number fo theses are uploaded with 1365 in the year 2019. The study found that engineering and technology subject with 1365 (58.48%) theses were contributed.
