Varun completed his master’s degree in law and public policy from National Law School of India University. He worked previously as a Policy Analyst at the Bangalore Political Action Committee. At IIHS, the focus of his work includes research on land records and the changing regulatory regime dictated by real estate laws. He is directly involved with the Land Records Modernisation Initiatives in Maharashtra (2016-17) – a Detailed study of land records modernisation and e-governance initiatives in Maharashtra, covering the rural, peri-urban and urban continuum; Concept Note on Assessment of Delhi Land Administration (2017) – a diagnostic framework to assess the land administration system, identify gaps and recommend an action plan to improve ‘Ease of Registering Property in Delhi; and Land Records and Land Governance Project (ongoing) – a project focused on issues around land administration via the new IIHS Centre for Land Governance.
