Ravikiran holds a PhD in Economics from Centre for Informal Sector and Labour Studies (CILS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). In his dissertation ‘Essays on Intergenerational Economic Mobility in India’, he has tried to understand the level and pattern of intergenerational economic mobility in India with a particular focus on the role of education.


His main research interests lie in the areas of Applied Development Economics, Informal Economy, Employment and Female Entrepreneurship as well as Intergenerational Socio-economic Inequality.


At IIHS, Ravikiran supports ongoing research on urban economic development and employment.
