Mandara Vishwanath is a researcher, educator and dancer. Having received her bachelor’s degree in English Honours from Christ University, she went on to train in contemporary dance at Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore. She completed her MA in Performance Studies from Ambedkar University Delhi. Her education trained her to be a critical thinker and practitioner in the arts. During her post-graduation she researched extensively on gender and domesticity that culminated into a peer review journal article, The Politics of Housework in Contemporary India. Intrigued by ideas of ‘home as a symbol of the self’, the interactions between bodies and cities, her dissertation was titled “The Woman, The House and The City: Urban Practices of Domesticity and Work”. Her professional experience in higher education in India began with tutoring undergraduate students on academic writing at Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana.

 

At IIHS, Mandara is interning with the Word Lab.
