Deepika had earlier worked as an Associate with the academic and research team of IIHS. Her responsibilities included studying the urbanisation trends in India and assistance in the curriculum development. Her current work involves studying the land record practices across four states of India.She has also worked with Spatial Decisions, a planning consultancy firm, and IRRAD, an NGO working on rural development. The projects she has worked on include preparation of development plans, incorporation of objections and suggestions to draft master plan, and measuring effectiveness of schemes on rural development, health and education.
